Chronic pain in cats has for years been underdiagnosed and under treated. Even once recognized, feline patients can present unique challenges that makes management of pain difficult. Chronic pain in cats is mostly centered around degenerative joint disease but dental pain, and pancreatitis can be a source of pain in the cat. All of these sources of pain lead to poor quality of life for the aging cat.
This webinar deals with recognition of pain and pain behavior in cats, fear free handling techniques and pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and herbal therapies that can be used to manage pain in cats. Emerging therapies will also be discussed. Other non-pharmaceutical therapies such as acupuncture, manual therapy and PEMF will be touched on but will be explained in more depth in Dr Huntingford’s webinar on Feline Rehabilitation which will be held live 15th July 2020. The attendees will learn about pain recognition and how to integrate both conventional and alternative therapies to treat their feline patients.
