Starting as a vet nurse, Mio has worked in the veterinary industry for 30 years. She graduated from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology with a veterinary degree in 2002 and received PhD in 2006 from State University of New York for her research in molecular oncology conducted at Wadsworth Center, New York State Department of Health. She then went back to her hometown of Tokyo and worked as a canine and feline chemotherapy specialist and clinical researcher at university and referral centers with a hope to find a cure for animal cancers. This was when she discovered the power of natural nutrition and herbs and how well they complement the conventional cancer treatment. Since then, integrating molecular therapies and holistic medicine has become her passion, and she’s been living her dream since she completed Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine at CIVT in 2016. She joined an integrative small animal practice in Sydney in 2021. She is also a certified Fear Free practitioner.
She co-founded whollyvet.com in 2014, a non-profit communication platform for evidence-based holistic animal care, where she regularly provides seminars, scientific and clinical contents and personalized consultations on natural diet, herbal medicine and lifestyle modifications.
She loves daily walk on a Sydney beach with her super-senior dogs and faithfully practices Bikram yoga to keep her Qi and Blood flowing.
